Patterns of injection and recovery wells are drilled into the ore zone to extract the groundwater and re-inject it into the ore zone after it has been treated chemically to dissolve the uranium. The recovery wells then pump the dissolved uranium to the surface for extraction.
RADIOACTIVE HAZZARD
LETHAL INJECTION

An injection well from the successful Field Leach Trial. The mining solution is passed into the aquifer through the larger pipe on the left. The smaller, copper tube on the right carries an oxidant (either oxygen or hydrogen peroxide) to the orebody to dissolve the uranium.
